Question for Nameserver

Posted by tinhnho, 07-16-2007, 11:57 PM
Hi everyone, I installed DA, and setup my ip 11.22.33.44 = ns1.mydomain.com, 11.22.33.45 = ns2.mydomain.com and mydomain.com (host) = 11.22.33.46. I went to registrar create NS : ns1.mydomain.com points to 11.22.33.44 and ns2.mydomain.com points to 11.22.33.45. What else do i have to do here to get my NS working properly ? Thanks

Do i have to register anything else for NS from registrar ? The reson i'm asking because there a guy from my work, he told me that if you create NS then you have to register your NS to ICANN or somewhere eles which he doesn't remember exactly. I really confuse because all i did before were just create NS from registrar that point to the ip i want. Let's say i'm like to have something like run.mydomain.com point to 11.22.33.47 (new web server) then i just go to registrar create run.mydomain.com = 11.22.33.47 right ? So whenever user go to run.mydomain.com will actually go to 11.22.33.47 instead of 11.22.33.46 right ? What about subdomain? if i create sudomain stop.mydomain.com from web server control panel, so whenever user go to the 'stop' folder of 11.22.33.46 (mydomain.com) right ? Dear tinhnho, When ever you create name servers you need to point your domain registrar to your server IP Address. Which you have done already. If you have any trouble you can check your Domain Report. FYI, http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnsrep...ain=domain.com Best Regards.

You've done everything just give it 72 hours to register. Its usually a lot shorter than that!

Then that guy (from work) who told me to register with ICANN or other places for NS is bs, he doesn't know what he was talking about...He makes it sounds more complicate...

This is all what you need to do when registering a domain and it should work.
